Seven Deadly Sins

We have a flood of mortgage defaults of biblical proportions. We might as well bring in some modern day parables. To suggest there is anything new under the sun would be silly.

• Lust - The natural desire to own the McMansion you can't afford

• Greed - Lenders have this one covered

• Wrath - Hell hath no fury like a mortgage broker scorned

• Sloth - Regulators where are you?

• Pride - I am thinking Wall Street could use a little hubris

• Envy - Rating agencies perpetuated the myth

• Gluttony - The biggest pigs devouring CDOs choked on them so there is some justice

So what do we do? First, pray for forgiveness. Second, devise a path that includes reference to a moral compass. Third, get religion about understanding risk.
