Job Summary

The AVP, Traditional Appraisal is responsible for all aspects of the traditional appraisal business. The business individual must be aware of and maintain a program that is in compliance with Protocols and Compliance Management for all Computershare, Computershare Client(s), Federal, State, and Appraisal Management Company regulations and manage the business to established service levels and profit margins. This role must sit in Denver.

Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Strategic planning, implementation and oversight of the traditional appraisal program and control processes.
Remains up to date on all appraisal industry guidelines and client requirements.
Incorporates these requirements into policy. Develops and maintains policies, procedures and processes related to the traditional appraisal business.
Creates controls and ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations and all client requirements and appraisal industry guidelines.
Responsible for mandatory state reporting, audits, training content for compliance with Computershare, client, state and federal AMC regulations.
Establishing criteria for placement on the panel and the on-boarding and off-boarding of appraisers to the panel according to policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain controls to ensure compliant and efficient appraiser selection criteria.
Senior level escalation point for complex issues and atypical appraisal transactions.
Other duties or tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Skills Required:

Licensed or Certified Residential Appraiser in good standing with the Appraiser Subcommittee, prior experience in senior management of a lender valuation program or a national Appraisal Management Company (AMC)

Preferred:

Broad knowledge of lending practice including but not limited to: origination (conforming/non-conforming), investment/capital markets, alternative appraisal product solutions, servicing and service provider business practices.
Ten years previous experience managing a diverse team to tight performance and quality standards.
Experience successfully managing a variety of client expectations and SLA’s.
Knowledge of industry standards of appraisal practice, compliance, operational risks and the ability to communicate and execute on opportunities for improvement.
Broad knowledge of national appraisal pricing trends both at an appraiser and AMC level.
Ability to identify best practices and process improvements impacting the business and to evaluate potential cost saving projects, initiate and implement execution throughout the organization.
Strong knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.

Education:

Master’s degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or a minimum of ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience Required:

Ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent in mortgage related valuation services.

Preferred:

Proven leadership in the appraisal industry.
Previous success in starting a new business line and continuing to grow the business.

Language Ability:

Ability to read/comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one/small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
