Learning from the Appraisers Down Under

In today’s Buzzcast, we dive into the current appraisal market and what U.S. and Australian appraisers can learn from each other. Today we have Chris Knight, Founder and CEO of Opteon, with Joan Trice, Founder of Allterra Group, LLC. We’ll be getting the inside scoop while Joan and Chris discuss how we can streamline the appraisal process like they do in other countries.

  1. Great interview. Learned a lot and hope he is successful in US. Guess my observation is that a $200 report (6-8) per day at $200 in Australia looks like no interior work or road work involved. On the surface it appears to be all analytics and off site data. While I do see that as a streamlined process, it would seem more like a Desktop.
    It was mentioned that they have 1% of reports that need some tweaking, verses 20-50% in the US. So it is obvious that they have different lender forms and requests for appraisers. It seems like the Appraisers run the show over there and watch out for their own.
    There is much to digest and watch for the future. They may have input for what is forthcoming but the GSE’s have a lot of clout in what they want so we will see!
    Technology or People. Can it be both?
